Readers Rally Club
Mission: To provide students in 4th & 5th grade with the opportunity to read from a selected list of books and dive deeper into each book and discuss important information they learn from reading each book. This club teaches students how to pull important facts from books they read and encourages a love of reading.
Students will compete against other elementary schools in the county and answer questions about the books they have read from the list. It's like a game show competition that takes place at a local GCPS High School.
Faculty Advisor: Tahnya Sherwood
Description of Activities: Students will meet twice a month to discuss books read during each meeting. Students will create questions and answers about the books they read.
Gwinnett Readers Rally (click link for more information)
- The Gwinnett Readers Rally is a quiz bowl-style competition for students in grades 4 – 12. Students read books from a predetermined list and answer questions about those books. Each Gwinnett County school may send one team of up to 10 players to the Readers Rally. The Gwinnett County Readers Rally Competition is typically held the third weekend in February each year.
Local Affiliation: 10 students from the group will be selected to participate in the Readers Rally county-wide competition the third Saturday in February of that year at a local High School. Parents will need to make sure and get your child to the competition that day and pick them up at the end. This club is for 4th & 5th grade students who enjoy reading.
Meeting time & dates: We will meet in the library. Once the meeting dates are determined; the information will be sent home to parents. We usually meet 2 Thursday mornings a month before school. Students will need to be able to arrive to school early on the meeting dates. Meeting times will be 7:30 AM- 8:20 AM and will be dismissed to go to class.
